Comment on On Creating and Composing for the Bagpipe by: Nicholas Hudson http://thevoicelog.com/?p=77#comment-105 Thu, 01 Jun 2006 05:09:11 +0000 http://thevoicelog.com/?p=77#comment-105 I'm certainly not a "composer", but I have written a few tunes. One thing I have found to be helpful is recording myself improvising on the practice chanter for five minutes or less. I then play it back and listen for anything "tuneworthy". Many times, I'll come up with a phrase, play it a few times, and when I go to write it down I'll forget part of it... So. Recording yourself prevents this and also enables you to try out many phrases and then listen afterwards for the best... all without worrying about writing it down right away. Comment on Highland pipes a nuisance? Try Border pipes! by: Iain MacDonald http://thevoicelog.com/?p=40#comment-7 Thu, 16 Feb 2006 06:14:33 +0000 http://thevoicelog.com/?p=40#comment-7 What an excellent way to foster good relations among neighbours. It is HIGHLY recommended that all pipers get themselves a set. At the very least, you can have a dance while your neighbours wince. What an excellent way to foster good relations among neighbours.
